Could this replace massage therapists? Meshed is the first AI powered robotic massage chair helping to relieve chronic back pain

Meshed, an AI powered robotic massage chair is set to help alleviate chronic back pain for some of the 8 million Brits suffering from the condition.

The product, launched by Cambridge Masters graduate Rohan Kamdar, a previous Forbes Under 30 featured founder, is an at-home, on-demand massage device that provides a range of personalised configurations to help alleviate back pain symptoms.

Following the successful completion of a robot that irons clothes and removes wrinkles with as many as 12 items being handled at once, production on Meshed was set in motion to deliver a next generation experience to people within the comfort of their homes (and without an expensive massage therapist).

Kamdar set his sights on a more ambitious device along with his co-founding partner Sergio Martinez after the IP and technology for their ironing robot device was sold to BSH in 2020.

Inspired by the latest engineering trends and the impact that AI can have to solve real world problems, their next game-changing tech idea was born. Bringing onboard a team of top engineering graduates from universities around the world including a partnership with the London School of Massage, the founders have been working on their latest technology solution to do something truly unique.

Meshed: The device that could replace message therapists

Built with a slick design, the Meshed device can be adjusted for depth, pressure and shape, and comes with interchangeable 5-head rods. With its 3D-axis motion and easy-to-use app, users can control all its major functions through a mobile, and get comfortable with their preferred arrangement. Thanks to its embedded AI software, the device also gets smarter over time, and learns about the user’s individual requirements and what works best for them.

The Meshed team consists of a diverse pool of engineers that have over 75 products to their name, with their much-needed new innovation aimed at solving a big societal issue.
