Timmy Trumpet’s ‘Diamonds’ music video shot in isolation set to hit the big screen in Hollywood

From a one-bedroom apartment in Australia to the red carpet in Los Angeles, an ambitious project on a tight budget has been making global headlines. The music video for Diamonds, directed by Shaun David Barker and produced by Rhino Punk Media, is in the official selection of the critically acclaimed film festival DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA), now in its 24th year.

Timmy Trumpet, a multi-platinum DJ, was on a North American tour with Steve Aoki when the pandemic struck. As the world went into lockdown the next day, he was one of hundreds hurrying for the next plane out of LAX.

Timmy livestreamed from his dingy Sydney flat a week later. Some stage changes were needed, as they were more accustomed to massive festivals like Tomorrowland and EDC. Air freshener cans replaced CO2 cannons, and pyrotechnics were replaced with birthday cake sparklers.

The set received over 10 million internet streams, making it one of the year’s most popular performances.

“Timmy opened the set on Diamonds, and it was the first time anyone had heard it. Then he said the words “from my home to yours, welcome” and the idea hit me in an instant” reflected Director, Shaun David Barker.

The official video for ‘Diamonds’ was the first to be shot and directed totally in isolation. The project recorded a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is unique to our generation.

The music video is a multi-cultural digital unity project that is inspiring. Over 500 contributors in 40 countries shot footage via Zoom, Facetime, and DM’s with the support of Timmy’s followers.

“The Diamonds video perfectly captures what our industry is all about. People coming together and spreading good vibes even in the hardest of times,” Dimitri Vegas (2 x World #1 DJ) added.

A team of producers involved in the project worked night and day to put it together. The final video took a total of 11 days to produce on a $6,000 micro-budget.

Diamonds will be joining a star-studded line-up of eclectic films that will begin premiering AUG 27 – SEPT 9, at TCL Chinese Theatre on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
